Robert has helped thousands of clients over his 35 years of practice and he can help you.

By way of background, Robert began his legal career in New York City at the multinational law firm of LaBoeuf Lamb Dewey Ballantine where he counseled private and public clients in general corporate and commercial matters including mergers and acquisitions, securities financings, shareholder and limited liability company agreements, employment agreements, and business contracts.

Robert decided in 1988 that he derived greater personal satisfaction helping individuals and small businesses and devoted his legal and financial skills to the practice of general law with a concentration in bankruptcy on Long Island. He also enjoyed living and raising his young family in Long Beach, New York and decided to open his practice there.

Since then, Robert has worked with thousands of individuals seeking to obtain a fresh start through either Chapter 7 under the Bankruptcy Code or reorganizing their debt through Chapter 13 under the Bankruptcy Code. Robert has seen the devastation to families caused by overwhelming debt and has helped many start a new life. He believes the cost of living in the suburbs, student loans and the availability of credit in general, are among the greatest problems facing many Americans today.

In addition to his consumer practice in bankruptcy, Robert maintains a more sophisticated practice representing litigants in the full range of contested matters arising under the Bankruptcy Code, including proceedings to lift the automatic stay, avoidance actions, and property rights disputes. He regularly prosecutes and defends litigation in the Bankruptcy Court involving preferences, fraudulent conveyances, assumption or rejection of executory contracts, and the dischargeability of debt.

Robert enjoys a reputation for community service having held public office in his community as a School Board Trustee.  He has served on the Boards of Directors of several community organizations including the local hospital, the chamber of commerce, homeowner’s association and the local bar association (president). Recently, Robert is proud of his work bringing greater transparency and inclusivity in local government as the Chairman of the Long Beach Democratic Committee. He is active in philanthropy and recently served as Chairman of the Jewish Community Relations Council of Long Island, which is charged, with among other goals, of building bridges and establishing lines of communication with other ethnic and religious communities.

Robert has been awarded an AV Preeminent Rating for his professionalism and the quality of his legal work from Martindale Hubbell, the premier directory of legal professionals. Robert has been selected for inclusion in Who’s Who in American Law and Who’s Who In America.  Robert has spoken on bankruptcy issues at professional associations and about the student loan crisis and alternatives to repayment on WPIX Channel 11 News in New York.
